District 95 Joint Project
October  2008, the 13th Annual Ramadan Iftar
for orphans and special needs children, the sunshine children's project

Sunshine drive which puts a smile on every child’s face

District Chairman, Committee members and club volunteers celebrate Ramadan Iftar with Cairo orphans and special needs children.

This celebration is another example of the type of voluntary social service adopted by our District.
Under the leadership and the auspices of past District Chairman, Mrs. Seham Elgohary, this tradition was adopted and followed by all District Chairmen to date.
During the month of Ramadan, clubs from the entire district invite about 500 orphans and special needs children from Cairo to a spectacular Iftar which is the holy month of Ramadan sunset meal.
This year, Chairman, Mrs. Ashnadelle Hilmy/Mortagy and the District committee and club volunteers celebrated this Sunshine Iftar with about 500 children who played, danced and had a fun filled evening.

The children are accompanied by their supervisors who are also invited to the Ramadan celebration. The entertainment community including famous movie stars and singers, magicians, dancers, soccer national champions, a Disney band and pantomime among numerous others, donate their performances to the Inner Wheel endeavors for the
Sunshine drive which puts a smile on every child’s face.
This event is held every year at the Army Infantry country club which facilitates the arrangements for our highly popular event with Mrs. El Gohary’s help.
Through the efforts of the District Committee and club members, huge quantities of gifts of clothing and toys are collected from individuals and companies in order to give each child and each supervisor several gifts at the end of the Iftar for the Eid feast celebration at the end of Ramadan.

Mrs. Seham El Gohary, Past IIW  Board Director and Chairman and Mrs. Ashnadelle Hilmy/Mortagy  thanking  the club volunteers  and the entertainers  who made  the  Iftar  a great success.
Seeing the children look so radiant while hugging and kissing the members of Inner Wheel often brings tears to our eyes. Many of these children whether orphans or disabled, find family warmth and affection with our members. This is a truly beautiful event filled with love and giving that is a joy to behold and is looked forward to by all of us, IW members and children.
