H.E. Mrs. Suzanne Mubarak, our First Lady, the Honorary President of Inner Wheel Egypt initiated a humanitarian relief campaign to help Gaza victims.

H.E. Mrs. Suzanne Mubarak held a Conference on January 25, 2008 for IW District 95, Rotary District 2450, the Suzanne Mubarak Women International Peace Movement, and the Egyptian Red Crescent under the theme:
“Together for Peace and Justice in Palestine”
The purpose of this conference attended by more than 650 members was to rally the support of our NGO organizations on the national as well as on the international levels for a strategic integrated plan of action to meet the needs of the Palestinian victims who seek medical and humanitarian aid in Egyptian (border) cities such as Rafah and El Arish
The Egyptian Red Crescent (ERC) in collaboration with the Red Cross has prioritized a list of urgently needed medical equipment and supplies.  The ERC which has been relentlessly providing medical aid to the victims since the beginning of the conflict, has asked for our support due to the severity of the situation.   The ERC will be the recipient of all medical aid and donations and the primary provider of medical support for the injured and the chronically ill who cannot be treated in Gaza and come to Egypt seeking treatment.
The unprecedented severity of the humanitarian tragedy in Gaza has devastated several thousand residents of all ages: infants, children, young women and men, as well as the elderly.
Our First Lady has appealed for our help in this humanitarian crisis considering the experience of Inner Wheel and Rotary in social endeavors in our countries.  She has also expressed faith in our abilities in providing organized relief through our team work, and our integrated plan of action and cooperation with the ERC.
Her Excellency declared that “ the women of Gaza and their children will remain in our minds, hearts and consciences.  We will work with them in order to overcome this tragedy and its dire repercussions.”

Our drive resulted in donations from District 95 members and contributing organizations resulting in upgrading the El Arish General hospital in the Sinai province.
An entire ICU/Emergency Unit will soon be inaugurated thanks to our combined efforts.
“Together we Are Stronger”, a past IIW theme was the epitome of our unified personal service in lending a helping hand to
“Realise our Visions and Make a Difference”
Our deeply felt  thanks go to all our clubs and organizations who helped in making a difference in the lives of so many of the Gaza victims.
